Can a 2-Inch FPV Frame Run 2.2-Inch Props?

Yes — if the frame geometry was designed for the extra prop diameter. “2-inch frame” is a class description, not a guarantee of clearance. A 2.2-inch prop has to clear the neighboring prop arc, frame structure, camera hardware and anything mounted near the arm tips through the full operating range.

Why 0.2 inch matters on a micro quad

Adding 0.2 inch to diameter sounds minor, but on a micro platform it is a 10% increase in diameter. That changes the swept disc and can materially change thrust, load and the room required around each motor. The frame has to provide that clearance without stretching the geometry so far that it loses the compact handling the build was meant to have.

Do not test clearance by eye alone

Static blade clearance is only the first check. Props flex under load and crashes bend blades. A build with almost no margin can touch another prop or the frame once the blade is loaded or damaged. Use the prop size the frame designer actually supports.

Impetus 2 is designed for up to 2.2 inches

The Impetus 2 is a 2-inch-class performance micro frame with geometry intended for up to 2.2-inch props. The platform is 2S-only and supports multiple video systems including DJI O4 Wide Air Unit (Lite), Walksnail, HDZero and analog.

Prop choice is part of the power system

Diameter is only one variable. Pitch, blade count, motor KV, battery voltage, motor size and total weight determine the actual load. A larger prop can improve authority and efficiency in the right combination, but it can also overload a motor or ESC if the rest of the system is wrong.

Bottom line

Run 2.2-inch props only on a frame with confirmed 2.2-inch clearance and a motor/power system intended for the load. On Impetus 2, that clearance is part of the frame design rather than an accidental fit.
